0.5/5 - Scam--Avoid
Reviewed by Andrew on the 9th of May 2026 at 20:40:28 (UTC)
They rug pulled in early May 2026. I noticed this just after Cop Fail I became public, I logged in to upgrade my server. After that, I went to the website so I could access my account to check that everything was as I intended it to be. The website redirected me to chicagoservers dot org, which stated that Mad City was down permanently because they were hacked. They promised to move all existing nodes to Chicago Servers org. As of 9 May they have not moved mine, and the node that I had in NYC is inaccessible via SSH (or any other means).
Luckily I only paid for a single year and my CC will naturally expire well before it is time to renew. Luckily I was merely hosting a TOR relay node, and not using it for even a personal entry node.
I can forward the emails to admin at ServerHunter if you'd like to verify their authenticity

1.0/5 - bad VPS provider

Hi Everyone,
I want to share my recent experience with Mad City Servers so others can avoid the same ordeal:
Premature Charge
– I signed up on *June 4, 2025, expecting full service through **July 4, 2025*.
– Instead, they charged me *before July 4, 2025*—with no warning or explanation.
Attempt to Cancel
– I reached out to ask why and to request cancellation.
– Rather than resolving my concern, they abruptly closed my account and blocked me from opening any support tickets.
Immediate Shutdown & Data Loss
– My VPS was shut off *immediately, days before **July 4, 2025, with **no chance* to retrieve my data.
– All of my files—backups, configurations, logs—are now lost.
Why This Matters
– When you pay for a full cycle (through July 4, 2025), you deserve the full service.
– Cutting off access early is not only bad customer service—it’s irresponsible, especially when users’ data is at risk.
🔍 Lesson Learned
Before trusting your critical data to any provider, always check customer reviews, ask about their billing practices, and ensure they have reliable data-recovery policies.
